Coaching supervision group

Are you looking for a (new) coaching supervisor? Do you want to share your developmental journey with like-minded coaches? Do you want to slow down and take time to reflect in a beautiful location?  Come for coaching supervision!

From September, I will be leading a new 6-month group supervision programme in Beaulieu, in the middle of the New Forest.

coaching supervision

If you’ve never had coaching supervision before, you likely have some reservations around cost, value, the number of clients you have. In my experience, those who have supervision wouldn’t be without it; the value to their own sanity and to the safety of their clients far outweighs the investment of time and money. But I’d be happy to talk through your reservations before you commit. Call me on 07775 817 344.

“The purpose of supervision is learning that leads to the continuous development of the conscious competence of the supervisee and the supervisor and to a higher level of practice. At its core, supervision implies an accountability to learning – that of the supervisor and supervisee – that may extend to that of the systems of which they are a part.” Cochrane and Newton

My role is to help you to take a “super-vision” of your own coaching practice, and what you are doing to help your coachees. It attends to the blind, deaf and dumb spots that you may not be fully aware of.

There are three main elements to supervision:

  • Qualitative – supporting you to coach in ways that are courageous, skilful and ethical, asking “is this the best you could be doing?”
  • Developmental – developing your coaching through feedback, guidance, role modelling, and helping you to self-supervise through reflective practice.
  • Resourcing – supporting you when doubts and insecurities arise, and providing you with a space to process what you have absorbed from your coachee or their system.

The group supervision approach gives each of the 6 participants air time, to bring their own coaching clients for consideration; you learn from your own case, as well as those of the other coaches in the room. You are not alone in your fears and hopes for coaching; you’ll see that, when you share and learn with your peers.

You will also get the ocoaching supervisionpportunity to practice your coaching live, during one of the sessions, with feedback from your peers. I’ve noticed how this shines a light on your blind-spots even better than your self-report of your coaching, and really keeps you at your edge.

“I learnt a lot in your supervision session and like your enabling style, to make the most of the group and to cover so much ground in such a short space of time and model the supervision so well”.

In summary, you will:

  • Work through real scenarios to gain perspective about ethical next steps
  • Be challenged to do your best work for yourself and your clients
  • Practice with feedback, to sharpen your edge
  • Experience new techniques that you can put into practice immediately
  • Have space to decompress and rejuvenate yourself as a coach and as a human being
